Wooden windows and doors restore original character in Norfolk farmhouse
We were thrilled to be appointed by Mrs Bidewell to restore her beautiful Nofolk Farmhouse, which had been in the family since 1937, with our wooden windows and doors.
“Having grown up in the house, I saw the original windows being replaced with aluminium frames in the 1970’s. I’ve always wanted to change them back to the original style so when the time was right I started searching online and found ‘The Burgess Group’.
I started out just looking for a new door for the back of the house via an online search, and compiled a list of companies to visit as potential suppliers.
I visited the showroom in Bury St Edmunds and was very impressed with the quality of the products. Nothing I had previously seen could compare and the staff in the showroom were very welcoming and helpful. Once we decided to go ahead, we considered phasing the work but in the end did it all in one go which I am very pleased about. The fitting team were brilliant, very tidy and considerate with very little disruption at all.”
Mrs Bidewell chose Timber flush casement windows and slim sash windows in Off-White, along with a timber Belbroughton entrance door, also in Off-White, with a Doctor’s door knocker in Matt Black. She then chose an alternative colour – Tent Grey, for a rear door with astragal bars and etched glass panels, and the same colour for a stable door, matching the front with Matt Black furniture including a letterbox, lock, and handle, and patterned glass to allow light but provide privacy.
