Real Timber and Timber-Look in Perfect Harmony
A home improvement project in Newmarket Suffolk shows how our Evolution PVCu windows and real timber French doors can work in harmony together.
At The Burgess Group, we provide the finest brands of windows and doors, all expertly chosen for their quality, outstanding looks and exceptional performance. This installation combines the UK’s top brand of timber windows with with the UK’s first ever timber-alternative window in premium PVCu.
Thermally efficient windows & doors, with the personal touch
Already a beautiful home, the Hosegood family wanted to elevate this Newmarket property to the next level with new windows and doors. They had to not only look great, but keep the heat in and improve security, especially for the children.
Having followed us on social media, the family decided to visit see our products in our Fornham St Martin showroom. In our relaxed showroom setting, the family was able to experience and learn about both timber and timber-alternative materials to make an informed decision. It was our friendly approach, combined with superb product knowledge and expertise, that confirmed their choice.
We liked the people and how they dealt with us, friendly and informative, very nice and relaxed and not pushy. We liked the products and services they offered.
Timber-Look Evolution PVCu Windows
This beautiful and timeless home benefits from a stone clad elevation with equally proportioned windows and a charming entrance porch. Here, the Evolution PVCu luxury windows were ideal. The look and feel of real timber windows.
The Hosegood’s chose a single, horizontal glazing bar design for their Evolution PVCu windows. These come with timber look joints, multi point locks and very low maintenance. Chosen as a flush casement design just like wood windows with a single horizontal glazing bar, the overall look works perfectly with the house architecture.
More Evolution PVCu windows in the same double-casement outward opening design feature at the back of the house, both to the original building and the new extension.

Timber Front Door – iconic style
Creating an elegant and welcoming entrance is a timber front door, in a style that works just as well in a classic home like this as a new build property. For this home improvement in Newmarket, we fitted the ‘Frenchay’ model with antique brass unlacquered escutcheon, door knob and letterbox, in a dual colour finish.
The Burgess Group timber entrance door collection is made to measure and built to last. There is no better real wood door offering traditional craftsmanship with modern performance and long term peace of mind.
The door provided in this Newmarket house features multi-layer engineered timber to resist warping and twisting, ensuring long-term stability and smooth operation through every season. Its dual colour finish is applied using a factory-controlled microporous three-coat paint system, providing lasting protection with minimal maintenance.
With the natural insulating properties of solid wood and our use of high performance safety glass units, you also beneefit from superior insulation and a glazed from the inside for security,
With colour co-ordinated or contrasting hinges, security locking and precision-made, every Burgess Group door brings together aesthetic quality, reliable performance, and complete peace of mind.

Ultra-Premium Timber French Doors
The single bar design carries through to the engineered timber doors at the back of the house. Designed as a classic French door set, divided by the bars and with a deep bottom rail, these no only work perfecdtly with the same stone and brick architecture, but equally blend in with the windows surrounding them on the ground and first floor.
With safety glass, multipoint locking and the best possible engineering and design, these doors also provide excellent security at the back of the house. The primary leaf on the left, viewed from the outside operates the one door, and hidden flush bolts on the secondary leaf allow both doors to open when needed. External key access also enables the family to gain access into the house from these doors as well.

Functional, safe and secure Stable Doors
Also provided with our expertise and knowledge of the finest timber products is a stable door alongside a single and double casement Evolution window.
A real wood stable door offers a combination of practicality, charm, and craftsmanship that few other door types or materials can match.
Its split design allows the top and bottom halves to open independently, giving excellent control over ventilation and light while keeping children and pets safely inside. The solid timber construction provides natural insulation, strength, and longevity, with the warm-to-the-touch feel and outstanding insulation solid wood offers. Stable doors are perfect for Suffolk and Norfolk homes where the house architeccture of our period local homes, make not just stable doors ideal but timber doors generally.
If you are fortunate to like in a cottages, period homes, or any Suffolk rural property, a stable door promises a tactile, traditional feel that is the ideal material choice.
