Art Deco windows & doors create seamless style throughout Cambridge home

Another bespoke installation of Art Deco windows and doors in a Cambridge home, comprising external windows, patio doors, internal room dividers and bedroom doors behind a Juliet Balcony.

We wanted narrow bars, locking windows, energy efficiency, flexibility of style, matching internal doors and an installer that could work with us.

Referred to us by the supplier of our steel look range, Aluco, Katie and her family met with Edward and Fiona at their property and also saw our Aluco Door and Window Collection at our Ipswich Showroom. We were delighted to be chosen to work with them on the project.

Customer quote - Fiona was so helpful, so patient. Nothing was too much effort. High attention to detail. The fitters took care and were great to have on site. The attitude was impressive. Katie - Cambridge

Black Art-Deco Bedroom Doors

Upstairs in the Master Bedroom is an exterior Aluco side panels on each side. Adding doors to a bedroom, provides so much more than windows aside from an obvious wow-factor and focal point in the room.

First is the internal door and window set, letting in much more light and creating a feeling of space. The other benefit to having doors designed for a bedroom is more ventilation with a door leaf, naturally being bigger than a window.

This particular door set is specially designed for a Juliet balcony in this mase made from metal. The door opens inwards, with a fully weathered frame, ensuring any rainfall drains away to the outside. At the same time there is no loss of security with multipoint locking, toughened safey glass and the visible barrier created by the balcony itself. Opening inwards only, these doors can hinge back as much as needed to bring in the fresh morning air on a summer’s day or just make the room feel brighter on dark winters.

Art-Deco Doors and Windows to the Downstairs Extension

Continuing this home improvement in Cambridgeshire is the contemporary living, dining and kitchen area. Here we expertly fitted a steel look black Aluco casement window, opening outwards and with period handles.

Alongside this is a set of Art Deco French doors and side panels. The larger opening meant that one side benefit from an extra floor to ceiling window, creating an even bigger feeling of space. And the offset doubnle doors sit perfectly on the left hand side. Both windows and doors come with the same authentic steel look styling and the proportions of Aluco and Aluco Elite are as close as you can get to a genuine steel door.

Internal Heritage Doors.

Flooding light through between the study area and the hall is an ultra slim room divider comprising a single door with side panel.

When an internal door with a side panel is hinged on the mullion and opens towards the side panel, it creates a more balanced and symmetrical appearance, with the handle positioned on the wall side for a more refined look. This configuration also improves practicality, as the door opens away from the adjoining wall, preventing it from clashing with furniture and negating the need for a wall door stop.

At the same time, this configuration allows for all manner of different room configulations because the wall side where the door would normally open towards is free.

Where other brands provide exterior grade doors just fitted internally, the Aluco Internal Collection is designed from the ground up as an internal door. Single glazed, no multipoint locking, seamless floors thanks to no visible threshold and a choice of handles and lock types, latching only or with additional locking, for example in a bathroom.

What is unusual about these internal Art Deco/Heritage doors is how they are designed. It is yet another example of the completely bespoke nature of Aluco internal doors. The opening door is hinged on the central mullion rather than opening up against the wall.

A Complete Steel Look Solution

Katie and her family chose our art deco doors and windows not only for how they look for the outside, but for the striking feature they create placed inside her home.

Clean black lines dramatically frame outside spaces and maximise natural light, which continues through the home via matching internal doors. These fully glazed doors define a separate space, providing privacy and reducing sound, whilst allowing light into the heart of the house.

They’ve way exceeded expectations, really large pieces of glass allow so much light in.  The double French doors are open from the start of summer. Having extra space by opening up into the garden is fabulous.  I’d 100% recommend The Burgess Group for their attention to detail, quality of work, responsiveness, and also Aluco as a product.
