Impressive ultra slim sliding doors frame beautiful country garden at family home

We had great pleasure in revisiting this extensive renovation, nearly two years after our ultra slim sliding doors were installed, to see how the family were enjoying their new living space.

Lee and Sophie were drawn to this idyllic country property, along the Suffolk coast, five years ago. It was the perfect place to raise their daughters, Willow and Beau, immersed in countryside, and with the space to realise their own childhood dreams of being surrounded by animals.  Now also home to pigs, goats, chickens and a beautiful (and very photogenic) retriever named Bee. Lee and Sophie’s impressive extension features a fantastic, light and airy, open plan living space. The kitchen, dining and living room, linking with the garden, seamlessly, with a 7 metre sliding door.

Opting for our ultra slim aluminium sliding doors, Lee and Sophie knew they were the right choice for them when they saw the minimal 20mm frames between the glass panels, which were much thinner than others they had seen and allow them to really capitalise on both the light and their view over the garden.

“We loved how it was so seamless, we wanted to be able to look outside without really seeing the frames.  We use them all the time, every day.  Even in the winter they work well as a backdrop with the beautiful views, especially with a clear sky and when the sun is coming up.”

Lee and Sophie chose a graphite black matt finish, and a rectangular powder coated feature handle.  They also opted for a triple track, which allows them to move all three doors and therefore change where the opening is. High performance solar control glass has proven a very valuable feature in making the doors even more energy efficient:

“In the Spring, when it’s cold outside, we switch our heating off, there’s so much thermal gain from the doors, we don’t need it.”

The flush threshold, ensuring there is no step or height difference between the inside and the outside, the family explain is brilliant for preventing trips and for general family life, not least for Willow and Beau’s hoverboards!

The family took advantage of the opportunity to see and feel the quality and smooth operation of the doors before ordering, seeing the large aluminium sliding door on display.

“We met Edward at the showroom in Woodbridge, it’s always nice to see the product.  When it came to installation, everything was fine and they were installed really quickly, in fact much faster than other elements which were delayed.  We would definitely recommend The Burgess Group; the installers were very good, and we had no issues.”
