Glazing

Whether it’s providing privacy, retaining your homes character or that finishing touch, glazing really allows you to add personality to your doors and windows.

With toughened, thermally efficient glass as standard, you can be assured of a secure, warm and cosy home whichever of our products you choose. Our Timber, Aluminium and PVCu ranges offer obscured and textured glazing on all windows and doors. Choose timber and you’ll also have stunning stained and coloured glass options at your disposal.

Want a mixture of glazing styles? No problem. Many of our customers choose to have clear glass top panels and etched or obscured lower panes to maximise light and create privacy.

Glazing for timber windows & doors

High performance glass, gas filled sealed units and warm edge spacer bars make our timber windows (and glazed doors) as energy saving as they are beautiful. They also vastly improve sound insulation.

Designed to suit the requirements of every home, our range includes 24mm and 18mm high performance units (filled with argon gas and krypton gas respectively), alongside 14mm ultra slim (filled with krypton gas) and even 4mm single glazed units to suit listed properties and those in some conservation areas.

If it’s something unique you’re looking for, look no further. We have an exceptional selection of decorative, stained, patterned and etched glass designs, and can even accommodate your own bespoke design, or sandblast your house name or number into the glass. If you have stained glass you really don’t want to part with, our encapsulation service allows you to incorporate it into your new door or window. We also offer secondary glazing where needed (see further down the page).

Glazing for aluminium windows & doors

Aluco internal sliding door with steel look astragal bars

Maximising light and the view of your outside spaces is often the brief with our striking aluminium windows and doors. So clear, toughened glass provide just that, with an impressive level of thermal efficiency and security.

Triple glazing is available on our Sunflex range of sliding and bifold doors, though with the double glazing being so good, you’re guaranteed exceptional heat retention whichever you choose.

In warmer months our bifold and sliding doors really transform your home when they open, providing a seamless transition from inside to out. If you want to make sure it doesn’t get too warm, all of our aluminium products are available with solar control glass, which limits the amount of heat from the sun that penetrates through.

For bathrooms, internal screens and even exterior doors where you may want some privacy, obscured and textured glass is available.

You’ll find more information on U-Values, glazing options and more in the brochure below.

Glazing for PVCu windows & doors

Highly energy efficient and secure, our PVCu windows are available with clear, patterned, obscured and even coloured or etched glass. With ground floor sash windows, our customers often choose to obscure or etch the bottom sash and leave the top sash clear to maximise the light.

Evolution (outward opening windows)

Though all of our windows will significantly reduce sound transmission, Evolution offer optional laminated acoustic glass, to increase the noise reduction even further – by up to 30%, perfect if you live near a busy road.

Bygone (sash windows)

The latest addition to the Bygone range is ‘Fineo’ glazing. the next generation of insulating glass, it’s vacuum insulated, giving it a depth of only 10mm and the same thermal performance as triple glazing whilst letting in around 15% more natural light. It’s also good to know that all the materials used are environmentally friendly and 100% recyclable.

You’ll find more information on U-Values, acoustic glazing and Fineo in the brochures below.

Secondary glazing

Door and window glazing at The Burgess Group

When replacing your windows isn’t an option, perhaps because of restrictions on a listed property, secondary glazing is the next best thing.

We work with trusted and experienced suppliers to provide the highest quality of secondary glazing, giving you the best outcome both visually and from a thermal efficiency perspective.

The process involves adding a second layer of glass to the inside of your window, effectively creating a second pane. This means the original window is left undisturbed and the new pane will even allow opening to provide ventilation.

Secondary glazing will help to reduce heat loss and improve sound insulation.
